For this module, we worked with RCT Theatres on their Cinderella pantomime revival, constructing Dame costumes to complement the existing ones. I was assigned the ‘Ursula’ showstopper Dame costume, where I used the design references supplied to create a structured bodice, skirt, and a padded tentacle overskirt.  I had to ensure that this costume lived in the same world as the accompanying ‘Ariel’ costume, but also make the costume adaptable, as there was to be a change of actor during the run, and the costume needed to fit them both.  The challenge was blending theatrical drama with wearability, all while keeping it fun and fabulous for the stage.
